When I try to format disks it gets to .80 and then I get a write error. I was wondering if this would indicate a problem with the disk drive or something is wrong with the motherboard. I have tried new disks and it still will not format past .80. How can I tell whether it's the disk drive or the mobo itself that is faulty? Any help is appreciated. I would hate to buy the parallel adapter only to find out that it was faulty chips in the DPF and I would have been better off getting the megadrive flash cart.
Well my genesis refuses to power up when the DPF is plugged in so I unno whats goin on.. it worked fine last week.. guess I'll just go with the flash cart |

| One way would probably be to swap out the floppy drive with a known working one. |

| The drive in my desktop is not the same size as the one in the DPF nor does the DPF have a power supply for the floppy drive... anyone know exactly what type of floppy is best for the DPF? Will the drive get power from that cable that fits into the back of the floppy? |

There's a chip that connects to the IDE ribbon cable on the DPF board which connects to a cable that is coming from the floppy drive.. could it be that this DPF has an MKE drive? Anyone have any suggestions as to how I could connect a power supply for a IDE floppy drive to the DPF board?
edit: clearly I may not know what I'm talking about lol. the floppy drive in my DPF has a ribbon cable coming out the back of it.. is this a different type of floppy drive?... another thing.. the gensis wont turn on always when the dpf is in the cart slot. it works fine when the dpf is not in the slot. I noticed too that when I got to the DPF menu that the sram was off I think my ram is toast.. time to get a flash cart. |

| I looked closer and realised there is a connection for a floppy power supply, I'm going to buy a new floppy drive asap. |
