|
|
* Compact Flash or SD-Card - as storage medium (which is better???)
* Battery RAM for data inside cart
* Fits into standard MD/GENESIS cartridge case
- PC-client software for writing *.SMD / *.BIN on SD-Card or CF-Card
No more LINKER ,CABLES anymore.
Everybody can buy USB SD-Card / CF-Card reader for PC.
EXACTLY SAME PHILOSOPHY AS THIS PRODUCT FOR GBA... |

It's been suggested before in the past. |

Please, make it exactly as NDS flashcarts.
So:
- Use microSD.
- Put save files on microSD instead of on battery / chip / w/e. |

I second this motion. A high capacity MD/Genesis backup solution is long overdue. Don't get me wrong, I like my MD-PRO 64mb carts, but an SD based unit would be much better |

If only this was done on demand then right? Unfortunately it's not that simple. SD is also not as nice to work with as Compact Flash. The NES PowerPAK uses CF because of SD's short comings. Any Genesis cartridge with RAM loaded from memory card should probably use CF despite what you want.
What you'd need for the cartridge would be a FlashROM containing the Loader program, 32mbits DRAM or SRAM, some sort of logic to act as a memory mapper, and some way to interface with the CF card. Then you just have to write the software to drive it all. But it's certainly alot of work to do. The best thing to do is to get people that are seriously interested in buying such a product to sign a sort of list to let Tototek and others know you are serious about purchasing a product that fits those specifications. |

I completely agree, while indeed complex is very doable. (if not SD at least with CF)
Setting up parallel printer cables as requirement, is like doing harakiri in nowadays USB unmatched reign. So either USB / SD transfer solution is meant to be a standard.
Have you seen all the interest and people over NeoFlash, begging for them to make reality such a MD copier?
That's because Megadrive scene is still quite active with lots of games, hacks, homebrew & new commercial games waiting to be played.
Allowing such a product to exist would make me pay 150€ just for this. So please anyone interested and able to produce this, make it real! ^^ |
