|
|
Is there a special way I need to prepare (software, settings, etc) a CD so I can load ROMS on my JVC X'eye to the megacart? Many of my roms are bin but some are smd. Also, does it support ROMS up to 24mb or below 24mb?
thanks! |

As written in the megacart website, the JVC xeye must have a little .bin rom always flashed in the megacart. So it reduce the "user-free" rom size to 8Meg max.
You have in that way :
1 meg (xeye fix)
1 meg (user free)
2 meg (user free)
4 meg (user free)
8 meg (user free)
Instead of (in the case you use the megacart on a classic megacd/segacd) :
24 meg (user free)
You can't use .smd roms with megacart,
there is a little utility on the megacart webpage that let you sort a folder full of roms (and fix their checksums, convert smd to bin, etc etc).

Please read carefully the previous posts, as there are some sound issue, and if you order a megacart, please write an email telling you're using a xeye.
Thx

IS it the same way if you own a CDX? If not, what is the procedure then? |

For the cdx, megacart works at 100% capacity (nobody reported something not working), there is no 8M limit anymore.
But yes, you still need to convert your .smd to .bin with the little tool.
If you still have some questions, just tell me |

How do I burn the disc with the ROMS on it? do the ROMS need to be in a directory or root directory of the disc? What kind of disc should it be (mode1, mode2, ?)
thanks |

|
|
Hey eastbayarb did you ever find out how to burn genesis bin files to CD so you can play them with the MegaCart?
I burned a CDR as a data disc and i'm using a US CDX but i can't figure out how to get the Megacart to see them?
Any ideas? |

Well I don't have the CDX any more (I have a genesis1 with sega CD1 system), but the discs I burned when I had the CDX still work on my current setup. I just used the tools on the megacart website |

Ok,i got the Megacart Adaptator Driver V1.X REVB - 1MB and it says Build your own Utility Disc with own ROMs.
I made sure i had under 254 roms as i got an error.
When running the Megacart.exe i go to Utility Disc/Build New/US iso.
It starts to make the .iso then crashes every time.
Protocol is set to none.
In order to use this utility do i supposed to have the adapter plugged in with the parallel and usb cable?
I didn't buy the adapter when i bought the cart. |

Hi ChupaX,
Are you running on XP or Vista?
The code is pretty simple, it just take files one by one from the directory and assemble them in a bigger file (the .iso).
Did you try assembling a iso with only, lets say 10 roms? Did it work?
Do you have at least 1GB of hardrive free space?
You may also delete the files (if they exist):
"tmp_dir.bin"
"tmp_dat.bin"
"track01.iso"
Because they may have been set to "read only" so the tool break its teeths on it.
Also, when it builts the iso, please dont loose focus on the megacart.exe window (don't chat on MSN while it built the iso, I mean).
Let me know
Thanks |
