Hi,
I have a super pro fighter q 16MB and i want to upgrade it to 32MB.
Can i use Transcend's IDE Flash Module 32MB with 40 pin to replace original 16MB card 40 pin? |

| Flash? I don't think so. Unless they specifically said it would work, I don't think it would. These old copiers all use DRAM, not Flash memory. They operate vastly different. |

| Likely atleast 24M, but it might be possible for 32M. I'm not sure. If I were to just guess I'd think it should take 32M if you had a RAM board with 32M on it. |

| The Q definitely supports 24m and I'm pretty certain it goes up to 32m as well. I'm not sure if additional hardware is needed or just the memory. |

Hi,
I'll reply to your PM on this thread.
I indeed have several SPFQs working with 32M boards.
It's a very easy upgrade if you can source such board since there's no other hw/sw modification than just replacing it.
Otherwise, it you're good at soldering those memory chips can be found on old SIMM 72 pins. Just make sure their access speed is 70ns maximum.
On the chip's id, -6, -7, -8, represents 60ns, 70ns, 80ns respectively

I founded an old SIMM 72 pins (with good chips) but it's difficult to take away memory chips and put after on RAM board.
Is it possible to have an assembly to "transform" old simm 72 pins 32M to 40 pins (to replace original ram board)? |

Ok if I understand your question you want some kind of adapter to plug a regular simm in place of the Pro Fighter ram board?
Nope that's not possible.
The only way is to solder those components on the board. Maybe you can find some technician with the right equipment to unsolder the memory packages from the simm. |

I hoped to connect old SIMM 72 pins (only 40 pins of 72 pins) to the connector (40 pins).
I unsolded 1 chip from the simm and i placed on the board but the Dram is 16M (not 20M).Maybe a pin is badly connected or maybe it's obligatory to have two chips (by pair).I wil try to add another one to have 24M directly. |

I added two identical chips like others and it shows now 24M.
Unfortunately I have a black screen for each game launched by floppy (Those games worked before when the SPFQ was 16M). I managed once to start a game but no other bigger than 4M.I tested the continuity on the dram card and apparently everything seems clear.
Any idea? |

Did you make sure that all the chips are gathered together?
Here's how the board should look like if it's a 24M:

This could be the reason for your current issues.
In case you soldered in the wrong spots, you'd rather solder 2 more chips and make it a 32M. |
