I have recently purchased a Megacart and I've tried to play the NTSC game Heart of the Alien on my PAL Sega MultiMega without success.
I also have tried to play it on my PAL MegaCD model1, again without success.
Did anyone who owns a Megacart has succedeed in playing Heart of The Alien on any PAL machine?
hope you can help !
Thanks [/b] |

What happens when you try? Did you use a PAL version of the game? |

The game only came out in the U.S., so there is only 1 version.
I expected to be able to play it on my PAL machine thanks to the MegaCart.
Here's what I am doing:
1) I insert the Megacart in the slot
2) Turn on the machine and keep the "b" button pressed to load the US bios - then I insert the game CD and press start
3) the sonic animation with the SEGA jingle plays (I guess this means the system recognizes the cd)
4) after a few seconds the screen goes black and the cd stops to load
any clue?

I'm not sure. Do you have a region switch/speed switch on your console? If you set the Genesis speed from 50hz to 60hz that might help. But I'm unfamiliar with the MegaCart and how well you can play out of region cd games. |

If the game itself checks if your system is NTSC during the init, nothing short of physically modding the console or patching the CD will get it to run. Getting the CD BIOS to load a CD is only the first step. That bypasses the region code check by the CD, but does nothing to remove any checks about NTSC or PAL by the game itself once loaded. I'd suggest googling for any patches to the CD. |
