|
|
Hi everyone,
I've got a double pro fighter and pro fighter x as per the photos which i'm trying to get going.
Are the copiers meant only for for one region, ntsc or pal?
If so what is it?
In the bios or other custom chips on the pcb?
Both Copiers boot on a super famicom without the ram boards installed,
Neither will boot with the ram boards installed.
One of the ram boards is 50 pins and the other is only 40pins,
the smaller board was floating around inside the unit when posted.
I need to figure out which portion of the 50pin header it needs to be placed?
I have tried the 50pin ram board in both copiers, neither will boot?
Are the ram boards interchangable between the boards?
Thanks for your assistance,

I have done some further investigation i have attached the pinouts of a functional 40pin ram pcb from a super pro fighter, this ram board seems to be interchangeable with other "fighter" series copiers with 40pin ram installed.
I don't think that you can mix and match the 50 and 40 pin ram pcbs

Hi there,
The region is determined by the CIC, as in SFC carts. Most are US/Jap.
On your PFX, the CIC is U4 I believe, the 74LS125 IC, which is not a 74LS125...
On your DPF it's U9
Both these copiers use 50 pins DRAM, the 40 pins you own was probably not originally bundled with any of these copiers.
Was the USA branded board was inside the DPF? Can you take better pics of it both sides. It's unconventional.
Make sure you give a good clean to the sockets/pins on these boards
Google up Douple Pro fighter ram board to see what it looks like but it mostly uses 512kx8 bits ICs

Hey,
Thanks for the info, its starting to make a bit more sense, I didn't know
how the units did PAL or NTSC Regions.
Yes the ram board with USA written on it came from the DPF,
which I think is NTSC. The memory IC's are NEC D424400V-70L x 8 chips,
with a 40pin PCB.
I have the following to test with:
DPF PAL, works okay contains 50pin RAM PCB with NEC 424800-70L x 8 chips
DPF NTSC? boots without RAM board installed received with loose 40pin
RAM PCB containing NEC D424400V-70L x 8
PFX NTSC? boots without RAM board installed 50pin RAM PCB TMS44101-80SD x 8
SPF (super pro fighter) boots but battery has leaked very flaky contains 40pin RAM PCB Goldstar GM71C4400AJ60 x 4 with 4 empty spots.
The 50pin PCB from the DPF PAL doesn't boot in the PFX even though it has
a 50pin PCB installed.
I have tried swapping the 40pin PCB's around but haven't been able to get a working unit,
