The thing won't power up. I suspect of two components: one marked as RC01 and other marked as SOC 1.5A . I don't know how in the hell they are, so I don't know how to test them.
Any ideas welcome. _________________ www.dragons-spirit.com

I'm curious. Why do you suspect those components?
The SNES has a fuse in the power circuit. If you blew it out you'll get nothing. I'd check that first. It might be marked F1 or maybe something else and it's 1.5A. It connects to T1 and C31 on one side and D1 on the other. Maybe that is your SOC 1.5A?
You could check your power switch too to make sure it works and the connector is plugged in. |

easiest way to check whats broken on the snes is to do as following
use a AC adaptor 9-25V atleast 0.5A.
there should be a black component on a large metallic piece.
connect + on the left leg. and - on to the metallic plate
push the power button on.. if the led lights up the fuse is probably blown "SOC 1.5A" means 1.5A fuse.
if nothing happens replace component and try again. please note! messuring the out voltage on this component is kinda tricky if the component is defective i once hade a snes that showed 5V on leg 3 and still the component was busted. (if you get a screen click when powering on but nothing else is happening the CPU has a bad soldering somewhere be sure to have a game in so you dont think its busted).
a good thing to know if you own a wildcard or games like yoshis island and the snes keeps reseting or getting lines in the background that "walk" up - down on the screen. its the poor design in the SNES, the AC AC transformer ripples since there is no capacitor present replace with a AC/DC transformer to correct this issue. (US SNES use middle plug for - on pal (european) use middle plug as +.) |

Seems to me just checking the fuse with a VOM would be a better idea than bypassing it and potentially frying further whatever caused it to blow in the first place. But that's just me. |

That's amazing, you fixed it like 3 months before you posted the message saying that it was broken! Even I'm not that good. Congratulations! |

First of all , sorry for the late reply, I've been really busy.
No, I have no time machine. It also looks like I don't know how to use numbers
There's a fuse soldered in two points and "floating" in the air. Its a long piece with a little black box in the middle. It's near the power supply. Just solder a cable there and power up, if it works you need to buy a 1.5A fuse and solder there. _________________ www.dragons-spirit.com

What voltage is the fuse supposed to be? I see that it is supposed to take 1.5 amps, but fuses also have a voltage rating. |
