|
|
Hey, trying to play Super Bomberman 1 and / or 2 on my game doctor sf3...
After using ucon 64, and putting it on a floppy... the game's wont boot up on the game doctor.
Just freezes.
I've got other games to work.
Anyone know how to by-pass the anti piracy? Or, if not, am I doing something wrong? |

If it has protection, ucon64 option -k should crack it. You could also try doing option -l (thats an L) for SlowROM fixing. If could also be that your floppy disk drive isn't loading the file entirely correct. The GDSF3 I had tended to have disk reliability issues. |

Never having used a frontend for ucon64, but looking at this:
I would imagine the button labeled "Crack" under "Copy Protection" would be what you want. |

These games as far as I can tell do not have any copy protection. UCON64 thinks Super Bomberman 2 has a SlowROM fix to be applied, you can try that. However I think your problem is more likely related to floppy reading errors that can cause any number of weird problems. |

There are many factors why other games might work but those do not. Did you try using different Floppy Disks? Did you try putting in a different Floppy Drive? Did you run the Self Test to make sure all your DRAM is ok? Another thing that helps but may be impractical is for the best Reading results you should use the same Floppy Drive to Write the Disks as you use to Read the Disks. Meaning take the floppy drive from the GDSF3, hook it up to a PC and write the disks. Then take it back out and put it back in the GDSF3.
I think there may have been some mod for the GDSF3 to improve drive performance but I don't have any information on what it was or a link.
Update: Here he mentions an issue that may be related to your problem. http://www.tototek.com/store/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=4811&sid=f5c375485eb3ef57904ff58cc417694e |

Might be bad ROMs or a bad conversion as well. |

That could definitely be the case. I recall Super Bonk not working for me when I converted it with UCON64 until I split the ROM into two 4M parts at which point it worked perfectly. |

I seem to remember that HiROM games needed to be split... memory may be foggy as I haven't played with my copier stuff in some time... |

It could be since few HiROM games will even fit on one floppy, making the issue kind of obscure. I do think I had to split Bonk as well as a couple HiROM BS-X games (Shockman & Zelda). |

When you convert a game, then split it and throw it on the necessary amount of disks, and boot up each one on the game doctor, is there anything else you need to do???? Do I just load up the first file I split and it recognises everything else is with it?? |

When you insert the first disk and it begins loading the first file, it reads the header and will 'know' how many disks it needs and will prompt you when it wants you to change the disks. |
