There is a project called Super HuCard which allowed you to use the System Card 3 to load ROMs off the CD into the RAM of the Card and then play them. It required some patching and was limited to 256kb roms or smaller. Also because of the patching it wasn't exactly compatible with everything.
The idea here would be to do something similar. It would require a HuCard with a BIOS ROM (FlashROM maybe) that contains the loader, RAM of some type (perhaps DRAM), and some kind of memory mapping hardware. The idea is so that the bios program can load the ROM into RAM on the card and then map the memory so it's like a real HuCard game inserted.
It would be very convient for DUO owners. And I'd imagine it could be cheaper to produce maybe? Even if not, it'd be more convient than relying on the PC to load new games. |
