Well for DSP in the UFO Pro 8, you have to insert your own DSP chip in the unit. I'm not sure if you can plug in Mario Kart on top and use it as passthru instead. I read a long time ago that the Bung DSP adapter cards basically are built off of disassembled Mario Kart cartridges but I'm not sure if that is just rumor or fact.

Rumor, all bootleg DSP games have cloned DSPs. The chip is actually an off the shelf part that is programmed/ordered with custom code. The bootleggers were probably able to get Nintendo's code by decapping the chip and reading the ROM using a microscope.

Some do, they are Pro Fighter clones after all. There might be expansion cartridges too.

As far as the cartridge slot wearing out, can't you buy a replacement these days for it, I know you can for the NES.

The connectors aren't easy to find at all, even generic ones, suppliers have run out. Now they will have to be remanufactured.

It is disappointing that the latest CCL copier "Smart Bros." did not include a parallel port.

There's still the expansion card...

Would be nice if I could transfer games over USB to my swc dx. The only computer that I could easily hook up to it right now only has usb ports since I moved it into another room.

Such a device is possible but it'd either need the transfer code stored in it's firmware (meaning it'd only have a few functions) or it'd be incredibly slow under computer control.

Most of them have cloned DSP but not all of them Wink
Here's a pic of 2 adapters for the UFO. The DSP one on top is using an original Nintendo chip.

They do. At least for the UFO Pro 6 normal or hyperversion but it's missing components on the board (no PAL at least Wink).

Kaz once installed them but didn't change anything.
Was the function ever available in the BIOS? Maybe I'll give a try one of these days...
