To have an image on said cart would work on said Nes-Famicom system without any mod done.
The game sits in the flash card memory with i believe the so called mapper is in the game already.
Unlike the N64 that requires aBoot Image (5 different) to run the game.
I am not 100% sure about the Nes
But i know only the emulators need to decode the mappers a regular Nes-Or Famicom only need the game rom |

I think the best option is Atari Jaguar. This console is actually incredible.
