I can't get my 64 m flash cart recognized by DreamWriter. I'm using the latest version.
I'm running WinXP SP2, with all the latest updates.
My mother is an Asus Crosshair. It has no onboard serial or parallel ports.
So I bought this parallel port pci card:
http://www.sunix.com.tw/it/en/Product_Detail.php?cate=2&class_a_id=34&sid=365
I can't find any way to set the card to EPP.
I tried with 2 different Straight Through cables with no luck.
Can you help me, please. I couldn't figure what can be wrong.
Should I try Installing Win98?.
Or maybe try it in another pc with an onboard parallel port?.
Thanks in advance.

For dreamwriter did you install v 1.6 then copy the 2.1 exe in? 2.1 is the latest version. Check in computer management your port settings. It must be EPP or EPP + SPP. Also try it on another PC. |

I forgot to say that I tested the cart in my Genesis and it works fine.
The only problem is that Dreamwriter doesn't recognize it.
Of course, I used the 1.6 installer, then copied the 2.1 exe to the installation directory.
In the device manager the two ports of my sunix parallel port card doesn't have any way to change the port mode to EPP or EPP + SPP.
Under Multi IO Cards, the Sunix 4018T Multi IO Adapter Item should have a configuration menu under its properties (as stated in the manual). Its not present. I think its a WinXP issue.
Thanks for the quick repply. I'll try it in another PC. If someone has any suggestion fo how I can make it work in my own pc, I'll appreciatte it very much.

I make it work in my dad's computer. It has an onboard parallel port, so It was a piece of cake. I'll try installing win98 in another partition and try Dreamwriter in it.
Any pci parallel port card to recommend?. This one seems to be a nasty one u___u.
Thanks in advance.

I have no experience of PCI cards with parallel ports. I've always used the onboard one. |
