I got an N64 today and I am using an RGB modded N64 with my 37" RGB/VGA TV. I know that normally you plug the N64 AV cable into the V64 and another cable to a TV, but how would this work for my setup since I am using RGB video output?

thanks!

Its a bit tricky. You cannot pass the RGB signal through the V64. So you need to use 2 monitors or if your Monitor has a video in (besides your RGB in) you can connect the V64 with that input and then switch with your remote between video in (to see the V64 menu) and RGB in (to play the game). The videoswitching by the systems is done automatically by a relais (you can hear it click each time you switch on/off the N64). Thats it!

Yeah that's my biggest gripe about the V64 is that it uses relays. I'm not really sure how long the unit will last due to that. I had one apart once that stopped working and oh god it is so lousy inside. A lot of chips with globs of epoxy on them (you know, like old cheap Chinese quartz watches). I'm not really very fond of the quality of the V64 no wonder a lot of them broke down when they came out.

I imagine you can always replace the relay if you need to. Not like it's a special Bung relay.

I'd probably just get a Z64 if I had an RGB setup.

Yeah but if they are surface mount, it'd be a huge pain in the ass. I forgot if they are or not.
