Posted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 4:53 am Post subject: How do I Format an 8GB CF Card for use in a Z64? |
|
|
I got a Z64 with the CF Mod done to it, but the 8GB CF Card did not come properly formatted for use in the Z64.
I tried Partition Magic with the CF Card plugged into my CF Card Reader, but the CF Card doesn't show up in Partition Magic and upon reading the manual, Partition Magic doesn't work with removeable media.
Can anyone help me figure out how to properly format this? Thanks. |

All I can think of doing is grabbing gparted (the live cd version) and doing it that way. |

you could connect the IDE2CF adapter which is needed for the Z64 CF mod to your computer. The CF card should be recognized as a hard disk and then it should also work with Partition Magic or any other programme. |

That doesn't work, I tried it. Something about the CF Card not being a "Fixed Disk", so my PC doesn't recognize it as a hard disk and thus I can't use Partition Magic. |

Hello pcc
You will need:
- a CF or SD card that is bigger than 2GB
- an usb card reader
- a computer with CD/DVD burner
- an empty CD-R or DVD-R
- Ubuntu 8.04.1 Live CD/DVD ISO
burn the ISO on the CD/DVD
- insert the CD/DVD into your PC and reboot.
- press F12 and select to boot from CD-Rom drive or consult your pc's manual.
- load live linux
- disable automount drives option
- plug the CF or SD card into the cardreader
- start the partition manager to create the partitions
- copy roms to the CF/SD card
and your card will be formated for further use. _________________ r4 gold for dsi |
