I've got a MGD1 main unit including the IBM compatible floppy drive and the floppy adapter for the MGD1's cartridge slot. Unfortunately I don't have the cable to connect the floppy drive with the floppy adapter.

So I bought an old IDE cable, cut some wires and used it to connect the floppy.

When I power on the MGD1 the LED shows a red 8 which flickers twice and then goes off. When I hit the button or insert a disk nothing happens. One time the MGD1 displayed the Error Code 94.

So I bought a brand new IDE cable and modified it for the MGD1. still the same problem.

Finally I tested the MGD's floppy drive in my PC. It wasn't working properly. So I bought several old floppy drives, but still the same problem.

Anyone an idea what I could do next?

btw, I use a 9volts center negative psu for the floppy and the MGD1 main unit.

I'm an amateur when it comes to electronics. Which regulator do you mean? And how can I check it?
