Check this out (halfway down the page, #71)

It's called an Alma CD-X VR-CD and plugs into a Sega Genesis. This unit attatches to an external CD-ROM drive and I think it lets you load games via CD.
I have scoured google but no other info is availible on this unit. Anyone know about it or where to get it? |

Just from looking at it, it plugs into the cart slot and emulates a ROM which is loaded from CD. Clearly, it's just a processor, some ram, and a CDROM. The data is read from the CD and placed in RAM which is then made accessible as a CART to the Genesis. There's a real dearth of info on it.
Looks like a lot of trouble compared to just getting a flash cart. |

| It came out in the late 90s, few were made.. Gamechoice had them years ago pretty cheap, now nobody does of course. |
