|
|
Hey,
I have some questions about the Super Flash. It would be very nice, if someone could answer them.
1) Does the Super Flash cart work without a CIC on a SNES using a regular "NTSC/PAL Adapter" (the ones you can buy on eBay)?
2) Did anybody try to run the cart with the CIC-161 on a PAL SNES? Did it work?
3) Is the CIC socket on the cart pin-compatible with the original CICs so that I can use a CIC from an official cart?
4) Is the menu program required or can I flash a single game alone onto the cartridge without any "pre-boot-code"?
5) About how many times of reflashing will the FlashROM last?
Thanks in advance for any answers, I would definately like to buy one if those points are clear.
Kind regards,

1. NO it will not work with any import adaptor you can buy on E-Bay.
2. YES it does work on PAL SNES
3. YES you can but you need to Desolder the CIC if you buy it with CIC
4. So far i know the menu program is required.
5. Dunno, but i bet long enought to play all games |

Hey DjoeN,
thanks for your answers. But just to be sure, let me ask some more questions

So the flashcart with CIC161 will boot in a PAL SNES _without_ the T-Connector?

Too bad, but that's something I could live with. Although having a "pure" flashed cart would be nicer, without any menus running before the ROM.

Hi JohnDie, (Great guy from SNES scene)
Here is my answer,
1) I think yes (I don't have it), because it can use the cart cic which plug-in the adaptor (I mean the one have double slot)
2) No, you can not use cic-161 for Pal SNES. But you can disable Pal SNES lockout chip. Then of course can run.
3) Yes, right, sure.
4) No, you can't. The pre-boot-code use to set special I/O, like sram size, 48M mode, multi games bank setting else ..
5) See here : http://intel.com/design/flcomp/prodbref/298044.htm ,
It say "Proven reliability: 100,000 cycles, up to 20 years data retention"

Okay, fine. That was what I expected.

Okay, good, so I'll put a PAL CIC in and it will run.

Good to know that, was quite obvious technically, but I wanted to know for sure. Thanks for explaining.
I think this will be long enough
So thanks to both of you, DjoeN and tomy, for answering my questions. You helped me a lot.
Greetings,
