|
|
I've read the last year's worth of forum posts in hopes of finding an answer to this but nothing turned up. Don't burn me at the stake for asking a very newbie question.
I have DreamWriter 2.1 (installed 1.6 and copied the exe for 2.1 into the folder). Neither my desktop (Vista 64) nor laptop (XP Home) has parallel ports so I got a straight through USB cable (centronix -> USB and then has a 25 pin gender changer on top). Of course, the app doesn't recognize the flash cart even when I change all of the port settings. I'm assuming I need to install some drivers to recognize the programmer via the converter cable. Any advice is appreciated. If I'm SOL and need to get an older PC, feel free to tell me so. |

Sad thing is that I have older PCs but they don't run Windows, just DOS 6.2 and no USB ports....
Talked with Tomy and have possibly found a way to make this work but the convertor cable costs 30 Euros and is not in stock. |

What is this solution Tomy might have? I'm very curious.

Tomy doesn't have anything but he pointed out a German guy who has made a true LPT -> USB cable which allegedly works with the flash cart programmer. The guy doesn't have any cables anymore though so I'm left with something I can't use..... |

I'd be very interested to hear more details of this cable.

Thanks for the update. Why did Tomy think this one would work?

No idea but he referred me to it via MSN. If you search for USB2LPT, it'll come up.
Looks like I have to get an old box just to flash ROMs... |

If a true working Parallel to USB is possible, maybe Tomy should start selling it. |
